bonded with friends @ the Kadayawan Festival 2010 in Davao City

As planned, I really made it to the 25th Kadayawan Festival celebration in Davao. Thanks to my friend/former office mate, Anne for the warm welcome and for letting me stay to her humble place while waiting for the grand and festive Kadayawan day!

On Saturday morning, we (Anne, her house help, Jubix as she fondly called her and I) arrived at the scene a little late but that didn’t stop us from having fun while stealing a pose with some of the street dancers especially the so adorable little performers you will see in the pictures below…

More Kadayawan and “indak-indak sa kadalanan (street dancing) pics here. :D

on this week’s to-do list

I shall be getting another stuffed box from JK and it is supposed to arrive anytime this week. I even wish for a notice from Mr. Postman to come in today so I won’t miss it when I go to Davao for some errands tomorrow.

So anyway, the Kadayawan week is already up in Davao. It’s been a long time since I last joined the celebration and I’m really aching to this year (with fingers crossed). :D

But on top of that purpose, I really need to renew my EON Cyber account at the Union Bank. It is about to expire in October and I want it renewed the earliest time possible.

Plus there’s more and I wish to leave tomorrow so I can get them all done and hopefully, just hopefully will get to enjoy the Kadayawan Festival  highlights  and other activities on Saturday, the 21st. :)

post fiesta update

In case… just in case you wonder how our Town Fiesta celebration went since I’ve been very vocal about it in my blogs… well, it was a blast!

Successful! As we expected, a lot of people came – friends, relatives and there were even people whom I don’t know personally but Mama still did welcome them anyway. That’s what Filipino Fiesta is.

I treated all the girls out to a carnival after lunch for some rides and then we went shopping after. It wasn’t really an ideal time to take them around along with the thick crowd but kids are kids. They always want what they want. I also didn’t want to spoil the day so even if it was so tiring already in my part, I still gave in to their request… just so to complete their own innocent version of celebrating the occasion as well.

At around 6 in the evening, the environment already started to calm down although there were still few people left (boys in particular having their drinking spree) but that didn’t stop me from locking myself up for a nap. My body feels like I was beaten to death that day. Oh well, it was over, anyway.

But what took me so long to post an update? Well, that’s going to be what my next entry is all about. :D

fiesta month is here

So here comes a brand new month and notice how fast the days went. It’s the 3rd already and in three weeks time it’s another fiesta time. I’m talking about the annual celebration of our parochial fiesta in honor of St. James the Apostle in which we celebrate every 25th of July.

It is still three weeks away but the narrowing roadways to our marketplace is becoming evident due to the growing number of “ukay-ukay” stalls (surplus shop) and caravans situated at the sidewalk. Locales usually prefer to shop at these stores because prices here are way cheaper and obviously has more quality (but not all) compared to some brand new ones.

I used to be a frequent buyer of surplus products (bags, shoes, clothes, sandals, curtains, bed covers, etc.) but when I left Davao for Cebu 2 years ago and left behind almost all that I’ve had that’s where I slowed down with shopping.

But anyway, they’re really nothing big compared to the price I reaped with that decision. It is finding my way back home and to be with the people I love – they are my family. Since I’m back I’ve been enjoying every chance I get to celebrate whatever there is to celebrate with them and my relatives. We seem to have one every now and then, LOL! Needless to say everyone around is looking forward for the fiesta on the 25th!

happy easter!

The Easter activities started at 3am here. As expected only one among my four giddy nieces was able to make it to the wake up call. The church was so packed with people already when we got there so we stood on our feet along with many others all through out. But no part of it was ever too much to bear (at least for me). The weather was calm, not so cold and not so windy… just perfect to go out at such an early hour without the need to wear sweaters or jackets.

I also took few pics but I still have to upload them to my PC so it may take me some time. Anyway, where you all guys are heading today? I’m sure you’re just as excited to celebrate Easter with your family and friends. Here’s to wish you a blessed and a blissful one. :)
