post fiesta update

In case… just in case you wonder how our Town Fiesta celebration went since I’ve been very vocal about it in my blogs… well, it was a blast!

Successful! As we expected, a lot of people came – friends, relatives and there were even people whom I don’t know personally but Mama still did welcome them anyway. That’s what Filipino Fiesta is.

I treated all the girls out to a carnival after lunch for some rides and then we went shopping after. It wasn’t really an ideal time to take them around along with the thick crowd but kids are kids. They always want what they want. I also didn’t want to spoil the day so even if it was so tiring already in my part, I still gave in to their request… just so to complete their own innocent version of celebrating the occasion as well.

At around 6 in the evening, the environment already started to calm down although there were still few people left (boys in particular having their drinking spree) but that didn’t stop me from locking myself up for a nap. My body feels like I was beaten to death that day. Oh well, it was over, anyway.

But what took me so long to post an update? Well, that’s going to be what my next entry is all about. :D

fiesta month is here

So here comes a brand new month and notice how fast the days went. It’s the 3rd already and in three weeks time it’s another fiesta time. I’m talking about the annual celebration of our parochial fiesta in honor of St. James the Apostle in which we celebrate every 25th of July.

It is still three weeks away but the narrowing roadways to our marketplace is becoming evident due to the growing number of “ukay-ukay” stalls (surplus shop) and caravans situated at the sidewalk. Locales usually prefer to shop at these stores because prices here are way cheaper and obviously has more quality (but not all) compared to some brand new ones.

I used to be a frequent buyer of surplus products (bags, shoes, clothes, sandals, curtains, bed covers, etc.) but when I left Davao for Cebu 2 years ago and left behind almost all that I’ve had that’s where I slowed down with shopping.

But anyway, they’re really nothing big compared to the price I reaped with that decision. It is finding my way back home and to be with the people I love – they are my family. Since I’m back I’ve been enjoying every chance I get to celebrate whatever there is to celebrate with them and my relatives. We seem to have one every now and then, LOL! Needless to say everyone around is looking forward for the fiesta on the 25th!

she turns 8 today

This is the latest pic of me and my Naureen whom I wish didn’t have to grow so fast. Gone are the so adorable moments with her when she wants to catch everyone’s attention around.

Now that she turns 8, her perspectives in life also have grown. She knows now how to make personal choices like what to buy for clothes, how to match colors (remarkably like mom), what to and what not to eat in excessive manner, in short she now have tender ideasĀ  on balance diet. But most importantly, as a girl she’s starting to get aware on how to behave accordingly… a real indication that she’s no longer a baby… my baby.

But I’mĀ  proud and happy for her… for what she is and for what she has become now. She’s still the sweetest any parent would long to have. My love for her is boundless.

61st Araw ng Compostela culmination highlights

Exactly a week after we celebrated our annual town fiesta on 25th of July, we’ve witnessed just another festive and colorful 61st Araw ng Compostela celebration in August 1st. Here I’d like to share a clip video of the 30-minute fireworks display prepared by the local government unit during the culmination night and which was witnessed by vast number of Compostelanians about an hour after the program started. All lights were off around the place and shortly the colorful fires begun to light the sky.

Invited artists like once a controversial Candy Pangilinan, former Pinoy Dream Academy Scholar Ronnie Liang and famous stand up comedian and the people’s champ (Manny Pacquiao) great impersonator, Pooh never failed to give Compostelanians a good laugh all through out the culmination night. Just sad it was impossible for me to take videos and pictures of them performing on stage because of the so thick and unstoppable crowd infront of us aiming for a better view of the performers.
