How to achieve the right weight for your child’s height and age?

Consider these tips:

1. Healthy snacks. Keep healthy snacks available for your child to munch on when he or she is hungry. For example instead of chips or sweets, you can give your child fresh chopped fruits. Aside from water, keep milk and fresh juice available for them to drink when thirsty.

2. Hidden Vegetables. Chop or mash vegetables into your child’s favorite soup or dish. This way you can get them eat vegetables without the fuss.

3. Get help from your child. Children love to be part of family activities like doing grocery with mom and let her choose the items. Give them things to do that fit their age.

4. Respect your child’s appetite. Our child’s stomach is smaller than ours and therefore they eat less food. Sometimes they are overwhelmed by the amount of food on their plate. Make sure they eat by putting smaller portions.. Our child’s stomach is smaller than ours and therefore they eat less food. Sometimes they are overwhelmed by the amount of food on their plate.
Love for our child drives our concern and desire for them to be healthy. Show this love by being there for them – play with them, listen to them, laugh with them. Our presence enables us to have a deeper relationship with our kids, and be their partners in their pursuit to a healthy lifestyle.

During winter is when a water-based recreation you have at home like a swimming pool becomes unusable. In this event many will seek for a pool cover to protect their swimming pool against unwanted debris, falling leaves and any other winter elements to help minimize the cleaning they’ll have to do when they’re ready to swim in again. While keeping the pool clean, a pool cover also help maintain the water chemistry and prevent evaporation while not in use.

I don’t have luxury like this at home but should I have one I would also secure the same protective tool. However, what if you are living in areas where temperature drops below freezing? Imagine snow falls or worst, snowballs on your pool cover each winter time making it prone to damage. Instances like this can be easily avoided if you decide to choose the right thing in the first place. Regardless of its type (in solid or above ground pool) and size, picking the right pool cover – one that’s built to last should keep you less worried.

Where to shop for dependable pool covers and accessories, you may ask. I personally would prefer to shop the conventional way where I can see and touch things that I like to buy before checking them out the counter. However, I also have room for online shopping especially when looking to buy something hefty like household accessories.

Now for that needed pool cover you might want to try this out…

With a 15-year warranty, this in-ground solid cover features the following is by far the best at Pool Supplies Superstore.

All-Weather Galvanized Grommets

Large Piece Construction and Poly-Strength Double Stitching for Extra Durability

Heavy-Duty Water Bag Loops

Triple-Laminated Built in layers for extra strength

Black Laminate Bottom—Resists Algae Growth

Looking for something else? Feel free to shop around Pool Supplies Superstore at www.poolsuppliessuperstore.com!

Healthy physical growth in our child is important to enable him to do well in school, be accepted by other children his age, and be safe from serious illness. We can help keep them fit and healthy by making sure they get enough rest, exercise and balanced meals.

1. Enough rest. Children need rest to grow properly. This is what sleeps gives them and most children need 10-12 hours of sleep for their bodies to get back the energy spent on play.

2. Physical activity. Active play and outdoor fun are ways to ensure our kids stay physically healthy. Encourage them to play outdoors for at least an hour each day. Today’s lifestyle keeps children indoors often with the television and video games to keep them busy. However, sedentary activities like these hinder healthy physical growth. It is recommended that children above five years of age have a maximum of two hours of TV time. Keep them busy with other activities the rest of the time.

3. Balance diet. Growing children need a balance amount of calcium and other vitamins and minerals to stay healthy. Ensuring they receive this through a balance diet will help keep them healthy.

The explosion of the Internet, modern satellite and undersea optical fiber communication networks has transformed the speed, range and volume of information worldwide. This technological revolution has also transformed and enhanced the way we fax each other. In the pre-high-speed wireless era, faxing required a fax machine on both ends to send and receive faxes and people had to depend on these noisy machines to place a call, plug in the fax documents and wait until all the pages had reliably gone through.

Image by mod as hell via Flickr

Often the recipient would have to confirm if they received the fax or not. Many times the recipient would forget to put paper on their fax machines so that the faxes would not be delivered on time, or the sender would send the faxes carelessly by not properly plugging in the fax documents so that the recipient would receive a poor, hazy or truncated version of the original document at their end.

Since the advent of online faxing, much of the headache and heartache involving faxing has been eliminated. Here are the three leading benefits of online faxing.

1. Mobility: Faxing on the Move
These days if you have a document in your e-mail or some online file sharing facility, and you own a smartphone, you can easily download an App which is designed for sending and receiving faxes. Simply click on the App to use those fax services and on one single page you can type a cover page, attach the fax document, select and plug in all the recipient phone numbers and just click “send”.

You no longer need to be tied down in your office or your client’s office to fax. It may take time to operate their fax machines, and it may be very time consuming, too.

2. Easy and Quick
Online faxing is much easier than traditional faxing. You do not have to tell your hard-working secretary to send this and send that, while the poor girl is trying to multi-task. You can simply use your desk-top, laptop, or mobile device to send the document using online fax services directly to your partner or client. This means no need for fax machines, no extra space requirements and no clutter.

Faxing is quick since you do not have to wait to see whether the documents are being properly fed, whether there is a paper jam, whether the telephonic signal is malfunctioning or unresponsive, or whether there is something wrong with the machine itself.

3. Good for Environment
Online faxing means less use of paper, no need for fax machines, and less use of energy. This means less use of plastic, trees and less use of fossil fuels to grow your business. As America is becoming more environmentally conscious about how we view our precious ecological heritage, we must always preserve and nurture the environmental endowments we have received from mother nature. Online faxing moves us in that direction.

Raising physically healthy children is a top priority for us moms. We grew up thinking that a child’s weight is the sole indicator of his/her state of health. However screening a child’s growth is more complex than we could imagine. Other factors should also be considered together with weight such as height, age and gender. In fact, the type of diet and daily activities can also affect a child’s physical development. So is there a helpful tool that can guide parents in checking if their child is on a healthy growth and development path? Yes, there is!

BODY MASS INDEX (BMI)–for-Age

The Body Mass Index (BMI)-for-Age is a good estimate of body fat content as it uses a child’s height and weight in its calculation. This is different from adult BMI because it takes to consideration, not only the height and weight, but also the age and gender of your child.

With the BMI-for-Age, moms can screen and check whether their children are underweight, healthy weight, overweight or obese. Though it is not a diagnostic tool, the BMI-for Age can give moms an indication of the state of their kid’s health. Together with this tool, consulting your pediatrician is still recommended so that you can get a holistic picture of your child’s wellness and the pediatrician can expertly devise how to address any concern. For example if your child does not meet his ideal MBI-for Age, your doctor may help you create an action plan on how you can help your child become healthier.

How to calculate Body Mass Index of your child?

1. Weigh your child using the bathroom scale. To ensure accuracy of result make sure to remove heavy articles of clothing and shoes. Jot down number.

2. Grab a tape measure. Have the child stand with his back against a wall. Place a tick mark on the wall with a marker and measure his height in inches. Now square that number.

3. Make the equation. Take the weight, divide it by the height in inches squared and then multiply by 703 to get the body mass index.

Indications:

Having a Body Mass Index above the 95th percentile means your child is overweight. While a BMI that is above the 85th percentile for his age put your child at risk of becoming overweight.

On the contrary, being underweight or at risk of being underweight means that your child has a body mass index for his age that is lower than the 5th percentile. This can be normal, especially if your child has been growing and developing normally, has a healthy diet, and is sound and active.

What’s alarming about your child being an underweight are issues such as not gaining at all or if he has recently lose weight brought by diarrhea, vomiting, poor appetite, an unhealthy diet, or a low energy level. An immediate medical attention is needed if you suspect your child is having any of the above mentioned weight-lowering conditions.
